WEEKEND INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM

APRIL 17th - NOV 3rd, 2024 | PROVIDENCE RI

Original Hot Yoga Association Approved  Teacher Training

Are you passionate about your hot yoga practice and ready to take a deep dive into the postures? Are you interested in seeing the view from the podium and helping others on their hot yoga journey? Take the next step on your journey and enroll in our Original Hot Yoga Teacher Training program!

In our training, you will learn how to teach the Original Hot Yoga series of 26 postures & 2 breathing exercises (also known as Bikram Yoga.) Please note that this is NOT a vinyasa flow or power yoga training - if you are looking for that style of course, we can give you great recommendations! Upon graduation, you will be registered with the Original Hot Yoga Association, the largest network of Original Hot Yoga studios and teachers around the world.

This course is intended for students who have a serious interest in hot yoga and have a strong desire to teach. We recommend that teacher training students have practiced consistently for at least 2 years. (6 months minimum to apply.) Our training covers a range of skills and topics including: Posture Study & Analysis, Yoga Anatomy, Yoga Philosophy, Medical Benefits of Hot Yoga, Scientific Literacy, Modifications and Corrections for Injuries, Yoga History, CPR / First Aid / AED Training, and Teaching an Inclusive Class.

This is a vocational program that includes a LOT of active practice so that you will be confident teaching right away.  We are very proud that the majority of our program graduates are now teaching hot yoga in the wild!

Diversity & Equity Scholarship

We are excited to announce that we will be awarding two Diversity & Equity Scholarships for our 2024 program! Our goal is to expand our yoga community and ensure that all people feel welcomed and included.

Our teacher training students have joined us from all around the New England area - in addition to Rhode Island, we have program graduates teaching classes in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Connecticut. We purposely designed our training format to be accessible to commuters as well as our local students. Many of our graduates have gone on to teach right here at Rhode Island Hot Yoga, and many others have gone on to be an asset to their home studios.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR PARTNER STUDIOS

TRACY DAVIS

Owner at Stayin Aligned Hot Yoga

"It has been a game changer to have these new qualified teachers on staff."

"My graduates created a bond among themselves as well as the other trainees that will last a lifetime. Once they graduated they were ready to teach and taught their first class the following week. They were open and receptive to feedback and enthusiastic to improve. The students enjoy having new perspectives of the yoga too.

"I would recommend this training to other studio owners and trainees because the flexibility of training one weekend a month made it possible for my trainees to continue their daily lives, practice, and train at the same time. It was also more accessible to them financially than other trainings. But most of all, they have the confidence and skills to teach a strong informative class and will only get better with practice."

- Tracy Davis, owner at Stayin Aligned Hot Yoga

2024 TRAINING SCHEDULE

Trainees will meet in person once a month at our full-service facility in Providence for our weekend intensive modules (Friday - Sunday) for 8 consecutive months. In addition to our weekend intensive sessions, we will meet remotely for 3 hours on Wednesday nights 1-2 times per month. Individual study, homework, & reading assignments will also be required.

Trainees must maintain a regular practice schedule of approximately two 90 minute classes / week throughout the duration of the training. Some of these classes will be included during our weekend intensives. The additional class hours may be completed at Rhode Island Hot Yoga, at another studio offering Original Hot Yoga classes, or remotely via Zoom (if necessary.) A minimum of 52 classes, completed during the course of the training, will be required for graduation.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR GRADUATES

SAMANTHA ELLIS

Graduated 2022

"This experience was more than I could have imagined.

"The entire training was well-programmed and full of a tremendous wealth of knowledge that I use now during my teaching. I walked away feeling extremely confident in the dialogue, the postures, and even more so in myself.

"Teacher training changed my life and my practice and it makes me happy every day I'm in the hot room up on that podium delivering those 90 minutes to students new and old."

GED CARBONE

Graduated 2022

"Juliana and Steph let serendipitous events flow, eroding any sense of learning by rote and replacing it with a creative classroom where we felt free to explore, laugh, cry, push our limits, and develop genuine friendships.

"By the fifth month, I had developed a deeper insight into the yoga, which was not surprising given that a deeper understanding had been one of my goals.

"What did surprise me was that the yoga training gave me a deeper insight into myself, and the tools to make me a better, less judgmental person."

JULIE MCDERMOTT

Graduated 2022

"I not only learned more about hot yoga, but I also met great people who share the same passion.

"I can't say enough good things about the conversations, the learning, and our instructors' knowledge and delivery.

"This is a commitment but very doable; I have a full-time job, and the time flies! I came out of teacher training prepared and confident to teach, and I love it! My only regret is that I did not do the training sooner."
